Plastic Manufacturing Methods for Food Service Parts

Plastech is a leading provider of high-quality plastic components for the food service industry. Our expertise lies in providing customized plastic molding solutions that cater to the unique needs of our clients. We understand that food service companies require plastic components that are both safe and durable, capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of commercial kitchens and food storage environments.

We have experience procuring and processing small batch food safe resins that comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. Examples of these resins is Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET, Polypropylene (PP), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), and Polycarbonate (PC). Here are some examples of parts we produce for the food service industry:

  • Trays and collars for frying units
  • Pans for handling food
  • Structural parts for ice makers
  • Plastic components for commercial blenders
  • Cups, bowls, lids, plates, and utensils for hospitals and cafeterias

Many of the parts that we produce for our Food Service customers today require secondary operations and sonic welding. Sonic welding is typically used for joining small to medium-sized parts. It offers several advantages over other joining techniques, such as adhesives or mechanical fasteners. It is a fast and efficient process, producing a strong, consistent bond. It is also a clean process, without the use of additional materials or chemicals, and it does not produce any harmful byproducts. Plastech welds Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) pucks into fryer unit parts. These pucks signal to the chef that the food has been cooked. We then lead test the parks to ensure a weld has sealed the plastic cap to the plastic collar.
